Offering & Sending a Book

The following steps describe how to get your books listed on the site, through to how to get the book sent off to someone who's claimed it.

Step One: Offering a Book

Follow the Offer a new book link from the Books menu.

At the Provide the Details of Your Book page enter the ISBN, title and/or author of the book you are putting up for offer.

On the next page you will be presented with a list of potential matches to your book. Either select a match and press next or select the I want to provide my own book details button and provide the details of your book, including a photo if you wish, on the next page. If you upload a photo it must be no more than 128 x 216 pixels and less than 30KB in size.

You will then reach the condition page where you state the condition of your book. Currently there are five options available: Very Good, Good, Average, Below Average & Not So Good.

On the next page, the final page of the process, you can provide some more details about your book. This can be a little more information about the condition of the book, whether it is a paperback or hardback, or even write a short review of the book. Once you select next the book will be added to the system. Your book is then available for someone to claim it.

Step Two: Your Book is Claimed

If your book is claimed you will receive an email informing you of this. You will also get a message on the Escape with a Good Book site.

To prepare your book to send off, follow the View books I've offered link from the Books menu. At the top of the list will be the book (or books) that have been claimed, showing an 'order placed' status, and a Send Book button will be available.

Press the Send Book button and you will then be prompted to generate a label. Once you have started label generation wait, then you will see a label shown on the screen for inPost. A copy of this label will be emailed to you.

For details about sending your book off, see the following section. You should try to send the book off as soon as possible. You have a maximum of 30 days to drop off the parcel after you have generated a label.

Step Three: Preparing for Delivery

To ensure that your claimed book reaches its destination safely, use a suitably sized cardboard book box, book wrap or padded bag. Seal the packaging securely.

Please ensure that the package does not exceed 8 x 38 x 64 cm and weighs no more than 15kg. Clearly an average paperback or hardback book will be nowhere near this size or weight. However, please make sure that the packaging that you use does not exceed these dimensions.

There is no need to apply a label to the packaged book. You simply need to take the QR code / access code that we provide to the inPost locker.

Step Four: Drop Off at inPost Locker

When you take your packaged book to the inPost locker, remember to take your mobile phone with the email that contains the QR code or access code. You should have received an email containing both from Escape with a Good Book. You will need this to access the locker. The inPost locker will have a screen with which to interact. Follow the instructions that are shown on the screen.

A compartment door will open. Place your book inside and close the door firmly.
